Human Development Research and Initiatives Foundation is a non-profit organisation engaged in research and specific development programmes. The basic foundation of our principles lies in the belief that outcomes of meticulously designed research have potentiality to raise the level of human development. We carry out our works with the objectives of empowering the vulnerable population and resolving the challenges detrimental to the human development.
Informal Sector Economy and Informal Settlement Areas
Informal sector plays a significant role in India's economy, employing a large portion of the working population. Moreover, informal settlements account for a substantial share of the total residential areas in India. Hence, it is essential to assess and analyze the relationship between the informal sector economy and informal settlement areas. Our ongoing research aims to explore various issues related to informal settlement areas and the informal sector economy.
Livelihood and Occupational Changes in Rural India
Majority of working population are shifting from farm to non-farm employment in rural India, since agriculture is not a sustainable livelihood option for them. Most of the workers are daily wage or casual workers and petty shop owners. Policies and programmes need to be formulated for sustainable agriculture development and productive employment creation in non-farm sector.
Students' Capacity Development
Drop-out rate among students belonging to economically vulnerable group is high. Inclusion of students belonging to low-income group families in graduation and higher studies is a challenge. Resolving this challenge may help to achieve a very important objective. It may result in upper socio-economic mobility of low-income group families. We, at HDRAI Foundation, try to provide counselling to students about studies and programme suitable to them after completion of their school education. We also provide financial support to students whose financial condition is weak.
